What is an emulsion and how is it different from a cream?

Emulsions are an essential step in the Korean skincare routine and offer numerous benefits, including anti-aging, mattifying and nourishing the skin.

A Korean emulsion differs from conventional moisturizers in its lighter texture and rapid absorption. Unlike the often thicker and richer moisturizers, emulsions are designed to deliver hydration without leaving the skin feeling heavy or sticky.

Emulsions are water-based and have a non-sticky texture, making them a lighter version of traditional moisturizers, but with a thicker consistency than serums. This makes emulsions a light alternative to traditional creams and facial oils, which can sometimes leave the skin feeling greasy or heavy.
