Ceramide
Ceramide
The skin-protecting barrier ingredient ceramide and phytosphingosine promote the self-synthesis of ceramide. The skin's epidermis has a multilayered structure composed of ceramide, cholesterol, and fatty acids, resulting in a moisture-retaining film that protects the skin. Ceramide is the most important component, as it functions as a natural protective barrier that strengthens the skin barrier and prevents moisture loss in the stratum corneum. Phytosphingosine stimulates the body's own production of these ceramides.
